I saw where you said this was not "The Crucible" but that's the first thing I thought of. x) I really like the way you do clothing. <3

It says Jane Eyre to me but it seems like you should be illustrating Poe. Great use of lines and subtle coloring

Brilliantly executed. Strong poses, clean lines; full of atmosphere. You should illustrate literature (pardon me if you already have), you' d be fantastic! You'd have a ball with the likes of Hawthorne and Poe.

Very Nathaniel Hawthorne! Wonderful image; more than little reminiscent of Rackham too.

I have a Rackham book sitting beside my bed. I have a steady rotation of many others but he always seems to stay. Thank you!

"This was hidden under her bed." - "My goodness..."

Great job. I love especially the contrast between the clean light lines and the black spaces.

I love the clean lines and the very emotional story being told here in the picture! My guess? Stern Puritan father is lecturing his daughters about unruly girls and is making the older one read a Bible passage. Must have been a real Jonathan Edwards type sermon because the older one is weeping and the younger is on her knees. Oh, yeah, the switch. Probably just a prop for emphasis. Despite their "Spare the rod, spoil the child" sayings, in reality most Puritan parents chose other methods to keep the children in line. However, as a prop, that would make quite a statement! :iconscaredplz:

In my head there are many possibilities. I wanted to leave it open so the viewer could decide. Yours sounds good. Thanks for looking at it and thinking about it!
