I live in the country and we have little rounded stubs sticking out everywhere. A few years ago, someone was digging a foundation for a condo complex and they uncovered a casket which contained an 18th century gentlemen, well-preserved, wearing a coat with George Washington inaugural commemoration buttons. My husband and I found in an old genealogical tract for his family a mention of a small graveyard his family set down on their migration between North Carolina and Georgia. Last year we used GPS and took back roads to locate it. Mostly rounded stumps with one legible stone. We cleared the weeds and refuse away and will go back again this year.
Oh yes. My parents have one on their property. The grave stones are gone but it is there. In the country families would have them on their farms and when everyone moves away or dies then there is nobody left that cares. It is sad but that is life.
